How can we help?

Answers to the most common questions about orders, shipping, returns, and more.

Order Management

Can I edit or add anything to my order?

At Rule of Next, we want to be sure you receive your order as soon as possible, so we start processing your order as soon as it's placed. This means we can't make changes like address updates, size swaps, or cancellations. The good news is most products are eligible for return within 21 days of fulfillment. Please refer to our Return Policy for applicable orders.

If your order is eligible for return, you can initiate a return through our returns portal once it has been fulfilled.

Already-shipped orders

We can't recall an order once the carrier has picked it up — even if you reached out minutes after ordering. Instead, wait for it to arrive and start a return through our returns portal.

How long do I have to pay a raffle invoice?

If you win a raffle and receive an invoice, you have 24 hours to complete the payment. After 24 hours, the order is voided automatically and the item is released.

What is your cancellation policy?

At Rule of Next, we want to be sure you receive your order as soon as possible, so we start processing your order as soon as it's placed. This means we can't make changes like address updates, size swaps, or cancellations. The good news is most products are eligible for return within 21 days of fulfillment. Please refer to our Return Policy for applicable orders.

If your order is eligible for return, you can initiate a return through our returns portal once it has been fulfilled.

Which items are final sale, and what does it mean?

Final sale items are not eligible for return, exchange, store credit, or cancellation — even if you change your mind shortly after ordering. Final sale items are stated as such on the product page.

What's final sale at Rule of Next

  • Special release items — called out in the product description
  • Items purchased at a discount of 40% or more

What final sale means in practice

  • No returns, no exchanges, no store credit
  • No cancellations, even before shipment
  • No price adjustments if the price drops later

Damaged or defective final-sale items

Even though an item is final sale, if it arrives damaged or defective you're still covered. Report within 7 days of delivery and we'll process it. Final sale does not waive your right to receive an item in working condition.

One-time courtesy

In limited cases we may offer a one-time courtesy cancellation on a final-sale order if it's your first request and the item hasn't shipped. This is reviewed case-by-case and isn't guaranteed.

Shipping & Delivery

Can I change my shipping address after ordering?

We cannot change the shipping address after an order is placed — even before it ships. Orders enter our fulfillment process immediately, which is why the address can't be edited.

What to do instead

Once your package has a tracking number and is in transit:

  1. Wait for the tracking number to be active
  2. Contact the carrier directly (typically UPS)
  3. Request a hold at a UPS Access Point near the correct address, or set up a redirect through UPS My Choice

Signature-required orders

Orders requiring a signature can't be modified after shipment either. If you can't be present, ask the carrier to hold the package for pickup.

How does international shipping work?

International orders ship via FedEx or USPS. You're responsible for all duties and taxes, which are calculated by the destination country's customs agency and collected at checkout.

  • Duties and taxes are collected at checkout, so you should not be billed again on delivery
  • We cannot modify or refund duties or taxes once collected
  • Tracking is provided once the order ships; multi-package shipments may have separate tracking numbers

If a carrier bills you again on delivery, that's a discrepancy worth flagging with us — though the duties paid at checkout still belong to the destination country's customs.

Need more help? Email support@ruleofnext.com.

How much does shipping cost? Is there free shipping?

We offer free US ground shipping on orders $250 and up. For orders under $250, shipping is calculated at checkout based on package weight and shipping address.

Bulk orders (25 lbs or more)

  • You'll receive a separate shipping invoice
  • Payment must be received before the order ships
  • Multiple orders placed within the same 24-hour window may be combined for weight calculation

We also reserve the right to charge a return shipping fee on returns weighing 25 lbs or more.

My package was returned to sender — what happens now?

If your package is returned to us as undeliverable (wrong address, refused at delivery, etc.):

  • Once we receive it back at our fulfillment center, we process the order for a refund
  • We are unable to reship orders that have been returned to sender
  • Original shipping fees are not refunded on return-to-sender orders

If you still want the item, you're welcome to place a new order.

Need more help? Email support@ruleofnext.com.

What is your shipping policy?

We offer free US ground shipping on orders $250 and up. For orders under $250, shipping is calculated at checkout based on weight, destination, and the speed you select. All orders ship via standard ground shipping.

Special-release shipping fee

A $14.95 special-release shipping fee applies to certain limited-release items. If this fee was applied in error to a non-special-release item, contact support and we'll refund it.

International shipments

International orders ship via FedEx or USPS. You're responsible for all duties and taxes, which are calculated by the destination country's customs agency and collected at checkout.

  • Duties and taxes are collected at checkout, so you should not be billed again on delivery
  • We cannot modify or refund duties or taxes once collected
  • Tracking is provided once the order ships; multi-package shipments may have separate tracking numbers

If a carrier bills you again on delivery, that's a discrepancy worth flagging with us — though the duties paid at checkout still belong to the destination country's customs.

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 1–2 business days. Please allow up to 5 business days of processing before reaching out. You'll receive an email with tracking when your order ships.

"Business days" excludes weekends and US holidays. If your order hasn't shipped after 5 business days, that's worth contacting us about.

Need more help? Email support@ruleofnext.com.

Where is my tracking number, and why isn't it updating?

A confirmation email with tracking is sent when your order ships. A few things to know:

  • Tracking can take up to 24 hours to begin updating after the email arrives
  • You can also view tracking on your account page
  • If a label was created but tracking shows no movement, the carrier may not have picked the package up yet

If there's no movement for 2+ days after the label was created, contact support and we'll look into it.

Returns & Exchanges

Do you offer refunds or exchanges?

Returns and exchanges are available through the returns portal.

Final sale items

Final sale items are not eligible for exchange under any circumstance. See "Which items are final sale?"

If your item arrived wrong, damaged, or defective

That's handled differently from a standard exchange — see "My item arrived damaged or defective" under Order Issues.

How do I make a return?

Returns must be sent back within 21 days of the date your order shipped (not from the date you received it). Refunds are issued as store credit by default, with a $5 handling fee deducted. Items must be unworn, unwashed, with all original tags and packaging intact.

How to start a return

  1. Go to our returns portal
  2. Enter the order number and the email address used at checkout
  3. Select the item(s) you'd like to return
  4. Follow the prompts to print a prepaid return label
  5. Pack the item in its original packaging — footwear must go inside an outer shipping box
  6. Drop the package off with the carrier indicated on the label

You'll receive an email confirmation when your return is received and processed.

Eligibility

To be eligible, items must be unworn, unwashed, free of damage or dirt, with all original tags attached and original packaging intact — and shipped back within the 21-day window.

Shoeboxes

Shoeboxes must be shipped back inside an outer shipping box. If a return label is placed directly on the shoebox, the return will not be accepted, and you'll be responsible for return shipping if you want the item back.

In-store returns

Online purchases cannot be returned in-store.

How do I return an international order?

We do not provide a prepaid return label for international orders. You're responsible for the full cost of return shipping back to our Ohio facility. We don't refund return shipping costs on international returns. Duties and taxes paid at checkout are non-refundable.

Return address (international)

Returns
Rule of Next

Solon, OH 44139
USA

What is the return window?

You have 21 days from the date your order shipped to send a return back. This is calculated from the date your order leaves our fulfillment center — not the date you received it. A return label must be created and the package shipped within this 21-day window for the return to be accepted.

If you asked to cancel an order before realizing it had already shipped, a shorter window applies: you have 14 days from the date you receive the package to return it.

Why was a $5 handling fee deducted from my refund?

A $5 handling fee is deducted from the store-credit refund amount on every standard return. This covers the cost of processing the return.

The fee does not apply when the return is caused by our error — for example, if we shipped the wrong item or the item arrived damaged or defective. In those cases the full amount is refunded with no handling fee.

Need more help? Email support@ruleofnext.com.

Will I get store credit or my money back on a return?

Standard returns are refunded as store credit by default, with a $5 handling fee deducted from the refund amount. Exchanges are not subject to the $5 handling fee.

When you get store credit (most returns)

Any standard return — change of mind, wrong size, didn't work out — is refunded as store credit, minus the $5 handling fee. Original shipping is not refunded on standard returns.

When you get a refund to your original payment method

Refunds go back to your original card (with no handling fee, and original shipping refunded as a courtesy) only in our-error cases:

  • We shipped the wrong item
  • The item arrived damaged or defective
  • The item was oversold / out of stock after you ordered

If your situation is one of these, contact support so we can process it the right way.

Order Issues

How long do carrier claims and investigations take?

Carrier claim resolution times

  • UPS: 5–7 business days
  • FedEx: 7–10 business days
  • USPS: Varies (you open the case, we follow up)

We can initiate an official investigation with the carrier within 30 days of the delivery date. Beyond 30 days, our ability to recover from the carrier is limited.

If approved: Full refund within 2–5 business days.
If denied: The carrier has confirmed successful delivery to the correct address, and we're unable to refund on our end.

My box arrived empty or with items missing

If your package arrives empty or with items missing:

  1. Contact support immediately
  2. Provide photos of the box, the packing slip, and the packaging condition
  3. We'll file a claim against the carrier based on shipping weight versus delivered weight

Please don't throw out the box or packaging — we may need it for the claim.

Need more help? Email support@ruleofnext.com.

My item arrived damaged or defective

Damaged or defective items must be reported within 7 days of delivery.

Process

  1. Go to the returns portal
  2. Start a return for the damaged item
  3. Upload photos of the damage when prompted
  4. You'll receive a prepaid return label
  5. Choose replacement (we ship as soon as the return is submitted) or refund to your original payment method (issued as soon as we receive the return)
  6. Original shipping is refunded as a courtesy

Note: If a return arrives damaged, worn, or without tags at our facility and you never notified us beforehand, we're unable to grant a refund in that case.

My item showed in stock but turned out to be sold out

A stockout happens when an item appears available at checkout but, after payment, we find we can't fulfill it (oversold, inventory error, etc.). We do our best to make sure this doesn't happen, but we do have multiple brick-and-mortar stores, so at times if there is just one item left, it may sell in store just before an online order can be fulfilled.

Restocks

We don't maintain a wait-list. Restocks and releases are announced via our newsletter and on Instagram, so sign up and follow us to stay informed.

My package says delivered but I didn't receive it

This is the most common delivery issue, and there's a clear path to resolve it. If you paid for shipping protection at checkout you can file a claim through the return portal. If you did not pay for package protection, please follow the steps below.

Step 1 — Check thoroughly

  • Porch, side door, garage, behind bushes, planters, or furniture
  • Neighbors (carriers sometimes deliver to the wrong address)
  • Mailroom or building front desk
  • Other people in your household who may have brought it in
  • Wait 24 hours — packages occasionally scan "delivered" shortly before they actually arrive

Step 2 — Contact the carrier to open a case

  • UPS: 1-800-PICK-UPS or ups.com
  • FedEx: fedex.com
  • USPS: usps.com → "Help" → "Missing Mail"

For "marked delivered" disputes, the carrier requires the recipient to open a missing package search. We follow up with the carrier and provide documentation, but we can't open the search on your behalf.

Step 3 — Send us the reference number

Once you have the reference number, send it to support so we can follow up with the carrier.

Step 4 — Allow up to 7 business days for resolution

If the carrier confirms the package was delivered to the correct address, we're unable to refund on our end. In that case you may be able to file a police report, claim through homeowner's/renter's insurance, or use credit card purchase protection.

Why was my order cancelled automatically?

Your order was most likely flagged by our fraud screening service. Our fraud scanner reviews every order and approves or declines based on risk signals. We cannot override a fraud cancellation.

Common triggers

  • Billing and shipping address don't match
  • Risky device activity
  • Multiple card attempts in a short window
  • Proxy or VPN detected
  • IP geolocation distant from the billing address
  • Card issuing bank doesn't match the billing country
  • Shipping to a known forwarding service or freight forwarder

When a flagged order declines, the order is voided automatically and no charge is captured. Any pending authorization falls off your statement in 3–7 business days.

What you can try

  • Place the order again from a different network (not on a VPN or proxy)
  • Make sure billing and shipping addresses match exactly
  • Use a card from the same country as your billing address

We can't manually push through a declined order, but we can sometimes share what triggered the decline so you can address it.

Payments & Discounts

I see a charge but my order was voided or cancelled

If you see a transaction but received a "voided" or "authorization-only" notice, the funds were never actually captured. The pending charge will fall off your statement on its own — usually within 3–7 business days, depending on your bank.

If it's still showing after 7 days, contact your bank to ask about the pending authorization. The funds are not on our side.

Need more help? Email support@ruleofnext.com.

I see a charge I didn't authorize

Contact your bank or credit card company to file a fraud dispute, and they'll handle the chargeback or refund from their side.

Pending authorization vs. captured charge

When you place an order, your card is authorized for the amount. If the order is cancelled before fulfillment, the authorization is voided and the funds are never actually captured. The pending charge falls off your statement in 3–7 business days. If it's still showing after 7 days, contact your bank — the funds aren't on our side.

My discount code didn't work — what should I do?

Email support with the code you tried, the email address on the order, and a screenshot of the error or checkout page. We'll investigate and either confirm the code is invalid or apply it manually if eligible.

Common reasons a code doesn't apply

  • Already used — most codes are single-use per customer
  • Expired — codes have an expiration date
  • Stacked with another code — we don't allow multiple promotions on one order
  • Excluded item in cart — special releases and sale items are often excluded
  • Doesn't meet the minimum — many codes require a minimum order value (e.g., $50+)
  • Typo — codes are case-sensitive

One promotion at a time

We don't allow stacking discounts. If two codes apply to your cart, only one will take effect.

Need more help? Email support@ruleofnext.com.

Where is my refund? When will I see it?

Once we process a refund on our end, you'll receive an email confirmation. Refunds typically take 3–7 business days to return to your original payment method, depending on your bank.

If it's been more than 7 business days

Contact your bank or credit card company — the refund has already been issued from our side, so the holdup is on theirs. It helps to give them the original transaction date, the order amount, and the refund confirmation date from our email.

Cancelled or closed card

If the card you used has been cancelled or the account closed, the refund still goes to that card — we can't redirect it. Your bank will forward it to your new card or issue a check.

Affirm / Shop Pay Installments

The refund is processed on our side and sent to Affirm or Shop Pay, who adjust your payment plan. If you don't see the adjustment after 7 business days, contact them directly.
