N.354 is a Nike Sportswear initiative that captures the innovative nature of Nike, while creating a place to test ideas. Named after 3:54, the fastest mile time ever run by Steve Prefontaine, a legendary runner from the University of Oregon who was coached by Bill Bowerman and wear tested many early Nike runners, the N.354 project explores fit and comfort and rethinks convention from the inside out, mining unexplored ideas from the Nike archives towards new directions. Reimagined versions of the Air Force 1, Huarache, and a new silhouette - the Drop Type LX (based on a 2001 prototype of the Mowabb) arrive in white leather bases with minimal branding, and handwritten details. Blue and red accents pay homage to Blue Ribbon Sports, Nike's original incarnation. Both the AF1 Type and Drop Type LX feature reinforced midsoles and foam tongues, while the Huarache Type has Velcro straps that echo the heel Velcro strap on the AF1 Type, and includes a pin with the original Huarache tagline - "Have you hugged your foot today?"
